Advanced Aircraft Company (AAC) is an aeronautical engineering and aircraft manufacturing company based in Hampton, Virginia. AAC produces vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) unmanned aerial systems (UAS) targeting commercial and military markets.

AAC’s first product is the HAMR (Hybrid Advanced Multi-Rotor) UAS, a long endurance multi-rotor utilizing hybrid electric propulsion and patent pending aerodynamic design features. The HAMR can fly for 2 hours with a 4 pound payload.

AAC’s future product is the Greased Lightning UAS. AAC has licensed production rights from NASA for the GL-10 technology and will improve on the NASA technology in numerous ways. It is projected that AAC’s upgraded Greased Lightning will fly for 19 hours with a 5 pound payload. This unique aircraft can takeoff and land without any launch and recovery equipment.

Bill Fredericks graduated from Purdue University in 2006 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He joined NASA Langley Research center in 2003 starting as a Co-op student working in the Aeronautics Systems Analysis Branch. His experience base is in aircraft conceptual design. Bill has performed numerous projects ranging from: the aerodynamic database for the Ares I rocket to the design of a truss-braced wing airliner for improved fuel efficiency. His most notable project was the NASA Greased Lightning project which he lead and performed the conceptual design of the aircraft. In October 2015 he founded Advanced Aircraft Company to design and produce UAS with game changing increases in performance. Also Bill is a member on the AIAA VSTOL Technical Committee and a former artillery officer in the United States Marine Corps. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2011 with a rocket artillery battery (HIMARS).
