REAPING THE BENEFITS OF REDD+

Protecting forests 🌲 and wildlife 🐘 is key in mitigating the effects of climate change, and REDD+ is an initiative that has been crucial to the welfare of communities living adjacent to Wildlife Works project areas. One of the benefits of our Kasigau Corridor REDD+ project in Kenya is awarding of education scholarship money 💵 to thousands of students that live in the project area. By protecting trees and wildlife in the area, part of the income made from selling carbon credits is allocated to education bursaries in consultation with the community. Throughout this, week our community relations team has been hard at work distributing bursaries to various schools in our project areas. We recognize access to education 🎓 as a basic human right for every child.  This support will go a long way in ensuring that students who come from underpriviledge communities get a chance to continue with their education. It is encouraging to also see our team give a motivation talk to students on the importance of education.  Head over to our instagram stories for more @wildlifeworkscarbon  https://bit.ly/2wo8NFx
